The free credit: which pack to build on day one

Every new LingFit account gets exactly one pack credit. Which pack type makes the best first impression — and when you're better off saving it.

Verdict: the free credit is the best demo LingFit has. It lets the AI build a full chapter on a topic of your choice, or from your own words. Because there’s only one, it pays to have a plan. Our recommendation: a specific topic you’ll actually need in the coming weeks, at Basic Words or Advanced Vocabulary level. If you don’t have a topic like that yet, save the credit.

Version: current build, App Store version 2.9, dated 4 October 2026.

What shipped

Every new account gets one credit. One pack costs one credit. There are two routes to a pack.

Route 1: by topic. You type in any topic. Then you pick one of four word levels:

  • Basic Words
  • Advanced Vocabulary
  • Ultra Advanced
  • Specialist Words

LingFit suggests a vocabulary list. You can review and edit it before the chapter is built.

Route 2: by word list. You bring 1 to 20 words of your own. Either type them in, photograph a list, or pick from your saved words.

Either way, you get a full chapter in the Yours tab. It has its own emoji and the same exercise formats, audio and images as the course. If the build fails, the credit is refunded automatically. You get a notification.

The four options in the launch check

Topic + Basic Words. The safest first impression. The words are everyday, the exercises feel useful straight away. Ideal for beginners with a clear occasion: a restaurant visit, flat hunting, a doctor’s appointment.

Topic + Advanced Vocabulary. Good for anyone who’s already a few chapters in. The topic gets more depth without sliding into jargon.

Topic + Ultra Advanced or Specialist Words. Powerful, but risky on day one. Specialist terms are exactly what a textbook doesn’t cover. The maker gives examples like “Nursing in a German hospital” or “Software engineering meetings”. For A1 learners that’s too early. For working professionals with a specific need, it can be exactly the right test.

Your own word list. Shows off what the app can do most clearly. But on day one you usually don’t have saved words yet. If you have a list from school, a course or work to hand, take this route.

Our order for session one

  1. Do a course lesson first. That way you know the exercise formats that also appear in the pack.
  2. Then pick a topic that comes up in the next 30 days. Not “food”, but “ordering food in a café”. The more specific, the more useful the list.
  3. Pick the word level that matches your level. If in doubt, go one level lower.
  4. Review the suggested list. This is the most important step. Cut words you already know or will never need.
  5. Build the chapter and play the first lesson from it straight away.

When to save the credit instead

  • If you don’t have a specific topic yet. A random pack “to try it out” wastes the only demo.
  • If you’ll get a vocabulary list soon. From a course or a worksheet, say. The photo pack is then the stronger first impression.
  • If you want to collect words in the feed first. After a few days in the video feed you’ll have enough saved words. Up to 20 of them can be turned into a chapter.

What’s missing

  • Only one free credit. Further packs cost money. There are bundles called Starter, Most Popular and Best Value. Bought credits don’t expire, according to the maker. In the US App Store on 10 October 2026, five credits cost $5.99.
  • No monthly allowance confirmed. A subscription doesn’t include regular credits, according to the maker’s information.
  • Quality varies case by case. The word list is generated. That’s why the review step before building matters so much.

What to watch next

  • How good the public pack search gets. Other learners’ packs can be found, saved and liked after an automatic safety check. That could reduce the need for your own credits.
  • Whether the maker adjusts the credit model. So far there’s no announcement on that.

Launch Score and recommendation

Our Launch Score for the pack feature on day one: 8.8 out of 10, the editors’ opinion. The build process with a review step and automatic refund is well thought out. It loses points because after the first pack the checkout is waiting immediately.

Buy now, wait or skip? Use the credit, but don’t waste it. A specific topic, a suitable level, a reviewed list. More on the feature on the official LingFit page.
