In short: HAUNTED: Are You Alone? launched on 9 October 2026 according to the Meta Horizon Store, right in the middle of the season when Quest owners are hunting for horror anyway. It lands on a shelf full of familiar names. This comparison puts HAUNTED next to three real Quest horror titles. Put simply: HAUNTED is the short, cheap mixed-reality option for your own room. If you want long campaigns in other worlds, the classics are the better bet.

The contenders
HAUNTED: Are You Alone?
- Type: story-driven mixed-reality horror with jump scares, light action and arcade modes.
- Setting: your real room, scanned via Quest Space Setup.
- Scope: story runs 25 to 35 minutes according to the studio, three endless arcade modes, two secret chapters, New Game+.
- Input: hands or controllers.
- Players: single player.
- Framework: PEGI 18, English only, playable offline, no ads, £3.99 in the UK store (as of 10 October 2026).
Hauntify Mixed Reality
Hauntify is also a mixed-reality horror game. The approach is ghost hunting across several rooms of your home. At the time of earlier coverage it was in Early Access. That status may have changed since.
The difference: Hauntify leans on exploration and ghost hunting across multiple rooms. HAUNTED stays in one scanned room and builds a sequence of chapters there, each with its own mechanic.
The Exorcist: Legion VR
A classic VR horror game in a fixed virtual environment, based on the well-known film universe. It’s episodic and leans on investigation and atmosphere.
The difference: here you step into other places. With HAUNTED, the horror comes to your home.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted
The VR adaptation of the well-known series with animatronics. It’s made up of many short scenarios and mini-games, with a focus on jump scares.
The difference: Help Wanted is a collection of many scenarios in virtual rooms. HAUNTED tells one connected short story in your own room, plus arcade.

What HAUNTED does differently
- The room is the level. Arms break out of your walls, a hole opens in your floor, a wall breaks open onto a graveyard.
- Your body is the controller. Look away, crouch, crawl through a tunnel, angle a mirror.
- A new mechanic every chapter. No repetition in the story.
- Arcade afterwards. Grave Rush, Arm Cutter and Skull Hunt with combos up to ×8, a shop and high scores.
- Nobody gets stuck. Help after every death, skip chapter from the third one on.
- Hide my room for streamers.
Where HAUNTED falls behind
- Story length. Half an hour against campaigns that can be considerably longer.
- Languages. English only according to the store.
- Reviews. None yet on 10 October 2026. The established titles have a history in the store.
- No seated play. The store lists room-scale and standing.
